I have been creating and facilitating ceremonies for almost 20 years now. And I have learned a lot during that time.
Holding the energy
One can get the basic tips from a book on what a ceremony can involve, but the holding of the energy is what takes experience to learn. What does that even mean?
It means being able to call in the energies and making the place feel safe for everyone. It is about being totally present in myself and in the space. It is about expanding my core essence out into the circle.
I learned that through experience during my Priestess training and then through the many Goddess conferences and other ceremonies I have co-facilitated.
The importance of the connection to the elements
One of the basic elements in holding a ceremony is the connection to air, fire, water and earth as well as to Goddess/God.
When we open, or call in the circle, we have to know what we are calling in. I mean, we have to know it in our very being. We have to know how the elements feel.
And how do we learn? Through practice. And with an intention of learning about the elements. They will help us. Goddess is there.
When we are present, mindful and have an intention to create sacred space we are doing it right.
To learn how the elements feel to us we can take moments from our every day and just sense what is around us. The wind on our skin, the fire in our belly, the flickering of a candle flame, the ground beneath our feet, the rain on our face and so on.
Mindfulness in our every day! Breathe Her in!
I will share more about planning and holding sacred space in posts later.
